These improvements of the R-Type game have been made by F?io Ricardo Schmidlin (FRS).

In 2004, he has created a XPC file that you can file on this website :

This XPC included 4 improvements :

1. Fix MSX-MUSIC detection

Actually, this part does not work, but on the same website, 
there's a dump of R-Type made by FRS with correct detection of MSX-MUSIC.

2. Better HTIMI handler

Actually, this part is source of problems. R-Type freezes at the start or 
later in the game when MSX-MUSIC is used. Especially, the problem appears
on MSXturboR if DOS2 is not de-activated.

3. Fix MSX2 detection

4. Invulnerability

The roms in this package :

R-Type_Improvements_1.rom = only improvement 1 (it's the ROM found on the above mentioned website)

R-Type_Improvements_2.rom = improvements 1+3

R-Type_Improvements_2_Cheat.rom = improvements 1+3+4
